Last week I went to a Thread Painting class at the BDEIG Seminar given by Loretta Holzberg. The pattern was of a Red Shafted Flicker - a bird that comes to her garden in Washington state.
The class covered Thread Painting across a raised area on the cloth. I found it to be very interesting and was especially happy to learn how to cover the edges of the raised areas.
Loretta does a lot with lighter weight fabric such as linens and silks. This particular pattern is stitched on a linen/rayon blend that is very nice.
She sometimes includes Open Work and Drawn fabric techniques. Her Stump work butterflies are wonderful. Overall, her patterns are challenging, but well worth the extra time.
